How to Use:

  • Remember to do a test patch, to ensure this recipe does not irritate your skin. Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
  • Apply a very thin layer of your mask on to clean, slightly damp skin {we usually wash our face then gently pat dry, leaving some moisture, as the Honey glides over the skin more easily}.
  • Let sit for 10 to 30 minutes. Your choice!
  • Honey is sticky, so don’t touch! As your skin warms the honey, it may start to drip. Remember to apply a thin, even layer.
  • Using lukewarm water, gently rinse off the honey. Pat your skin dry and apply your favorite all natural oil or moisturizer.

IMG_9827This mask is good for your skin for a many reasons. Honey is full of an astounding spectrum of healing properties – it has been used for millennia to cure many skin ailments such as rashes, cuts, scars, burns and wounds. It is anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, acts as a humectant {meaning it holds moisture in} and draws out impurities. Honey is full of anti-oxidants, as well as trace vitamins & minerals.

Cinnamon & Nutmeg have similar properties, such as increasing blood flow to the area it is applied to {this means more fresh, oxygenated blood is being drawn to the skin on your face – it’s a good thing}, they are anti-microbial & anti-bacterial, help to dry out pimples, and reduce inflammation & redness {improving skin tone}. The fine grounds also act as a gentle exfoliant.

We like adding Tea Tree Oil for to its powerful acne fighting properties and Lavender Oil for its calming, redness reducing properties. We think this mask recipe creates a nice balance, however there are many options for variations, and you can tweak this to suit your specific skin type & ailment.

In essence, this mask is full of powerful skin-healing ingredients while also being hydrating.

For those with blemishes, you won’t see huge improvement right away. As always, you must be patient. Try doing this mask 2-3 times a week for 2 months to really give it a chance to work its magic. Skin will usually worsen in the first few weeks, as it goes through the initial “detox” process {remember, honey draws “stuff” out}. Stick with it. Note the changes you are seeing, “good” or “bad”.

ps: look for Ceylon Cinnamon, as most “Cinnamon” sold is actually Cassia. It has different properties than “true cinnamon”. It’s not always easy to find. Thanks to our amazing labeling regulations in North America, we always know what we are buying {SARCASM}.

pps: remember to use Local, Organic & Non-GMO ingredients to care for yourself & Mother Earth.
